Game Length
- 2rd to 8th grade games will be played with 6 minute quarters.
- HS game time may be 7 or 8 minute quarters.
Timeouts
- 4 full timeouts for the game. An additional full timeout will be granted for the OT period.
Allowable Defenses
- Player-to-player is required in the first half of each game.
- Help defense is acceptable
- Defender must still be capable of maintaining current defense while preventing a drive to the basket.
- Must determine what is a double team vs. proper help defense.
- Zone defense is permitted in the second half (and OT).
- Junk defenses (triangle & 2, box & 1, etc) are illegal.
- These defenses combine man with zone.
2nd/3rd/4th Grade
- Backcourt Defense/Press
- Teams may press the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter starting with Game #4.
- Exception: When the offense is attempting to execute a fast break (at the discretion of the officials).
- May not trap until the ball and/or player crosses the three-point line (top of the key extended) or below.
- Exception: Anytime press is allowed, trap is also allowed.
5th/6th Grade
- Backcourt Defense/Press
- Defense is allowed in the back court (1-on-1 only) unless the ball is being inbounded.
- Teams may press the entire 4th quarter and any OT periods unless the winning team is winning by 10 points or more.
- Trapping is allowed once the offensive player is established in the front court (P2P still applies).
7th/8th Grade and Above
- Backcourt Defense/Press
- Defense is allowed in the back court (1-on-1 only) unless the ball is being inbounded.
- Teams may press the entire 2nd half and any OT periods unless the winning team is winning by 10 points or more.
- Trapping is allowed once the offensive player is established in the front court (P2P still applies).
OVERTIME RULES
- Regular Season
- Sudden death (first team to score) for Grades 4+.
- Grades 2 and 3 will be sudden death with a 2 minute cap. If the game is tied at the conclusion of the 2 minutes, the game will end in a tie.
- Playoffs
- Sudden death (first team to score) for all age divisions.
